Glassboard Update for 01/31/14: We've Been Busy

It’s been a little over one month since we announced that Second Gear was acquiring Glassboard. Since then we have been listening to your feedback and working hard on improving the service. As we close out January, I thought it’d be nice to share a list of most of the user-visible changes to Glassboard we’ve made since the announcement.

  • We unveiled new logo and subsequent app icons for iOS and Android.
  • We released Glassboard 3.0 for iOS.
  • We released Glassboard 3.0.1 for iOS.
  • Lowered the pricing of Glassboard premium from $50 to $24.99, and added it as an in-app purchase on iOS.
  • Improved overall performance in the Glassboard API and Web app by upgrading to the latest versions of the Windows Azure SDK and ASP.net MVC 5.
  • Deployed a new email notification layout that is visually cleaner and scales to mobile nicer.
  • Began tracking our terms of service and privacy policy changes on GitHub.
  • Cleaned up the visuals of the Glassboard.com marketing site.
  • Added badge notifications to the iOS app.
  • Disabled email by default when you join a new board (by far the biggest request!)
  • Began beta testing Glassboard 2.6 for Android.

Not bad for 45 days I’d say. We’re just getting started. If you haven’t checked out Glassboard lately, now is a great time. Glassboard is the best way to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with your friends, family, or work colleagues.

And as always, is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Glassboard 3.0 for iOS Now Available

Recently we announced that we had acquired Glassboard from our friends at NewsGator. Since then we have been hard at work on an update to Glassboard for iPhone to bring it to iOS 7. I’m happy to announce that Glassboard 3.0 is now available on the App Store!

We left no screen untouched in the app as we worked to translate the Glassboard experience to Apple’s new design language.

Glassboard 3.0 is just the beginning of the changes we have in store for the service going forward. We look forward to sharing more with you throughout the rest of 2014 and beyond.

Glassboard Acquired By Second Gear

Glassboard is the best way to connect, coordinate, and collaborate with one person or a group across iOS, Android devices, and the Web.

Today, I’m pleased to announce that Second Gear has acquired Glassboard from NewsGator.

As longtime Glassboard users, we’ve used the app with big groups during conferences, as a way to collect feedback on our beta software, and also to plan our nights out. So you can trust we’re committed to keeping Glassboard the service that we’ve all come to love, based on the same great principles, while looking for new ways to make it even better.

From the moment NewsGator announced it was looking to give Glassboard a new home, we were jumping at the opportunity to bring some fresh ideas to one of our favorite apps. We couldn’t wait to let you in on our first steps toward modernizing Glassboard…

Glassboard 3.0 for iOS

Over the past few months we’ve been hard at work, updating Glassboard for iPhone to look more at home on iOS 7. We’re putting the finishing touches on the app right now and we’re hoping to make it available in the first weeks of the new year. By installing the current version of Glassboard on your iPhone, the App Store will auto-update to Glassboard 3.0 as soon as it’s available.

Besides refreshing the app with the design language of iOS 7, Glassboard 3.0 will squash a few lingering bugs and improve message posting and sharing.

But this wouldn’t be much of a tease without a sneak peek, would it?

And don’t worry, we have plans to update the Android app and website next.
